About MeHI! Welcome! My name is Sue Benes and I am the Library Media Specialist and Building Technology Coordinator at Auburn School District for Pioneer Elementary. I moved to Washington in 2016 and started back in the classroom teaching 1st grade. I am excited to be in the library setting and sharing my passion of both reading and technology with students and staff.
Prior to coming to Washington, I was a LMS at D. C. Everest School District for Rothschild and Hatley Elementary in Wisconsin. I collaborated with teachers in grades K-5 in both buildings. As a Technology Mentor for the District, I lead workshops, trainings, and presentations. My first presentation session at WEMTA (Wisconsin Educational Media and Technology Association) was in 2012 and I presented each year until 2015. During the 2015-2016 school year, I left the library and became a PreK-6th grade Technology Teacher in the Tomahawk School District. I was also an adjunct professor at Northcentral Technical College in Wausau on iPad and Google training. Prior to being a Librarian, I taught Kindergarten, 1st, and a 1st-2nd multi-age class over the course of 8 years. My transition to Washington has been everchanging as my family and I get acclimated with a more urban life than the country living of Wisconsin. I enjoy spending time with my husband, our two children, and 3 cats. There are times when I do miss our big gardens, apple orchards, beehives, and chickens. As a family, we enjoy canoeing and spending time together. In my "quiet" time, I enjoy taking walks, reading books on my Kindle, playing the many apps available on my iPad, walking through stores, and listening to music and podcasts.
