Baby Steps 2022 (Plans for the Future - see below) Being in the library has me refocusing on AASL standards, ISTE, scope & sequence, and so much more. This page will develop as my time back in the library goes on. In the meantime, here are some things we have been doing!
We welcomed in person learning! That meant getting acclimated with physical spaces, sections in the library, searching for books, using shelf markers, having a brand new library in our brand new school, and of course, having a brand new librarian! Once we got our footings, we were ready to soar! Here are our highlights:
Primary: Author studies, Digital Citizenship, Illustrators and Award Books, Safe website searching, Databases (preparing for research) Google Slides Research Organizers Creating trading cards
Intermediate: Call numbers & order, Online Catalog & searching, Digital Citizenship, Cybersafety, Researching with databases, Note-taking and citations, Media Literacy, Online Creations & Publishing Award books Literary talks
As time goes on, I hope to get permission from students to share their work. They are creating amazing things!
Plans for the Future More to come: NEU Future Graduate Book Challenge - High School, College, & Beyond Chat & Chew - A place for students to come and discuss books in a fun and relaxed setting Author Visits - In-person or virtual, it is always a wonderful experience to meet authors and get excited about reading. Tech Night - thoughts are still floating at what would be the best way to do this. Library Showcase - thoughts are still floating at what would be the best way to do this.
